Comments on Hinesburg Cottage on Lake Iroquois
"What an incredible find, and
on the Internet! Who knew that the cottage would be even better than what
we saw or even imagined! It was absolutely perfect for our honeymoon
. . . the breakfast was awesome and we really enjoyed lounging around
listening to CDs and watching a movie."
"What a wonderful place to come and relax. We will definitely be back and recommend this cottage to family and friends. We also took advantage of the nearby hot-air balloon ride--'Above Reality.' It was a blast!"
"The cottage was a perfect place to stay while viewing the foliage and dreaming about moving to Vermont. We loved the drive from Burlington, and the ability to eat our own cooking instead of eating out in restaurants every meal. The rowboat was the coup de grace!"
"This was the perfect place for rest and 'shedding' our harried city selves. Love the lake, the woods, and the cabin--especially the extra thoughtful touches."
"Staying here was a perfect respite for my wife and I. The cottage's central location allowed us to have new adventures every day--exploring new bike trails, kayaking, visiting wineries, breweries, ice cream factories, cider mills. Yet we were able to return here each day for an evening of peace and solitude. For us, this represents an ideal vacation."
"The fishing was fun, and the kids had fun looking for crawdads. We did some water skiing and tubing and canoeing. Thanks for all the little extras."
"Had a great week! The fish were biting and most were keepers. Saw two pileated woodpeckers (exciting for a birder, anyway). Steve and Lisa thought of everything; from charcoal for the grill to fresh flowers throughout the cabin. Nice touch! P.S. Nectar's rocks!" [Note: Nectar's is a restaurant/bar in Burlington that features live music.]
"What a lovely spot, the ultimate base camp for hiking wondrous Vermont. Stowe Pinnacle, Sterling Pond, Elmore Mountain and Balanced Rock, biking Isle La Motte--all within an hour's drive of this dot on the map. The reward of returning to Upper Access Cabin each day; serenity, seclusion, wildflowers and candlelight--ah, Vermont restoreth the soul!"
Had a great week--enjoyed swimming, fishing, and canoeing in the lake. Our 3 year old caught his first fish in the lake and it was a big deal. We also enjoyed the Burlington area and Shelburne Farms. There are lots of attractions for preschoolers."
"What a cozy place to spend our honeymoon! The weather up here was colder and snowier than we expected, so it was great to have a warm cottage as a home base. We would love to come back in the summer or fall when we could take out the canoe, and swim."
"The weather was perfect, and the cabin made it even better!!"
"How nice it was to come to a cozy cabin rather than a dull hotel room. Thank you for making it affordable!"
"This place is terrific, the location is just perfect. We strongly recommend the Abbey Pond Trail and the Battell Trail. They are nice half-day moderate hikes to the wilderness."
"This was just the perfect place for a few Bostonians to get away from the bustle of the city. Thanks for all your help and suggestions. The Vermont Pub and Brewery was great, though my favorite was the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory."
"Not knowing what we were getting into before we came, this place was a total blessing. We couldn't have dreamed of a better place to enjoy our honeymoon."
"The cottage truly felt like home, and yet a million miles away from the real world. It was the perfect size for the three of us, and served as a great home base for our daily excursions around Vermont."
"We had quite a few laughs watching the chipmunks and raccoons steal all the bird seed. We went through a lot of it!"
"The boys loved the canoe and trying to catch fish with the net. They also took the canoe out to fish the traditional way. We couldn't get the dog to go into the water, but she loved the forest and the chipmunks."
"The fishing was great. I caught 24 fish, including a 19-inch smallmouth bass."
"Another wonderful visit! We have enjoyed many fun-filled days, and the evenings couldn't have been more peaceful. The kids had a blast!"
"We had a great week living in a 'tree house.' The pugs also thought it was great." [Note: Several guests have commented that sitting on the deck evokes The same kind of feeling one gets in a tree house.]
"We've only been here for two days, but we're coming back. Don't miss the velvety H20 and the pick-your-own blueberries at Owl's Head. It's amazing how well thought out this place is, and how nice and quiet it is."
"The cottage was a perfect place to return to after a hard day (of yoga training). We would love to come back again!"
"Fantastic vacation! Great fishing: 1000 pumpkinseeds, 50 perch, 5 smallmouth bass, 1 pickerel. The cottage was very cozy on the rainy days. The Bullwinkle tapes, Monopoly, and checkers kept us entertained."
"We had a great week! We loved how well the cabin was stocked for breakfast. It was a pleasure to be able to eat out on the deck each morning. The dogs loved the boat. They now have a new pastime in addition to hiking and playing ball."
"Happy mornings of meditation and peaceful evenings of chanting. Many thanks for the comfortable setting."
"We had a wonderful time! It seems like Lisa and Steve have thought of everything. One suggestion: Take the initiative to get up early one morning and take the canoe out (with a cup of good tea). The air is crisp and the experience sublime."
"Steve and Lisa have thought of everything. We immediately felt right at home. Canoeing at dawn or dusk--these brisk days were exhilarating. We fished--caught 3 northern pike, but neither of us could bring ourselves to kill and eat them so we threw them back. We enjoyed just sitting on the deck or by the lake at night and seeing all those stars. P.S. That 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle is not missing any pieces!"
"We had a wonderful, relaxed week. The cottage was great, and the amenities appreciated. The canoe was fun, and the deck is like being in a tree house."
"The weather was lovely--we swam and used the fireplace! We enjoyed the breakfasts and the reading materials. The only problem was that we didn't plan to stay long enough!"

What a magical place! Talk about a room with a view; the master bedroom [in Fletcher 3] is like being on board a ship. The patio was great entertainment too, with the birds vs. the chipmunks."
"We had a wonderful time here, with the deepest sleeps, great breakfasts, good walks. We saw a moose just down the road!"
"The cottage is a perfect getaway with wonderful silence for reading. The autumn colors are so beautiful through the countryside, and it was the perfect place to go 'leaf peeping.' Although the weather wasn't sunny and warm, we made it out in the row boat against the wind and went farther than we thought we could! We also had a great time exploring the tourist attractions in nearby towns."
"Breathtaking scenery, awesome autumn colors, chickadees and deer. We got lost more than once going to and fro, enjoying the beauty of God's land in Vermont! Thank you for your hospitality, especially the care you take in stocking the refrigerator."
"The

"The weather was great and the cabin was cozy. The kids had fun fishing right off the dock, something they had never done before."
"What a great change from the concrete jungle of NYC! We had a grand time; relaxing by the pond, waking in the morning to the birds and the mist rising off the water, and spending quiet evenings together."
"First things first: The bird feeder report. A whole family of family of rosebreasted grosbeaks, plus a male hanger-on. Goldfinches, a purple finch, a song sparrow, plus the usual suspects--chickadees, jays, chipmunks--sometimes all at once. Beautiful show. The lake, at sunrise and sunset, is pretty wonderful too!"
"The mist on the pond in early morning, and the cry of a lone loon. What more could you ask for?"
"What a wonderful time we had! I must admit that I was worried that it would be too secluded here, but there were other campers to chat with and they helped to make it fun. We loved the canoe and the rowboat. My son had never been in a canoe before, and he took right to it. We built a fire in the firepit and roasted marshmallows and hot dogs--what a treat that was!"
"I spent hours on the Internet to find just the right place for a holiday in the fall and we just kept on finding your cottages by Metcalf Pond. You never know if it will be as good in real life, but this was just as we imagined, and we had the bonus of beautiful fall colors plus temperatures in the 80s! We have climbed, canoed, kayaked, walked, driven, rowed, and paddled all around the are and now we are happy and enchanted! We found a button on the oven that says "Stop Time" and we've spent all Friday pressing it, in the hope we can stay forever, but unfortunately it hasn't worked yet."
"What a wonderful place, close to all the Vermont attractions we wanted to see--Shelburne Museum, Ben & Jerry's, Vermont Teddy Bear factory, Cabot, Dakins, Johnson Woolen Mill."
"The girls had a brilliant time paddling the canoe and in the rowboat. They discovered the most wonderful echo when out in the middle of the pond--so clear and distinct, the peace and quiet were disturbed for a few minutes whilst the new phenomenon was tested out!"
"We've had a great time paddling around with the boats, cooking dinners in the well-equipped kitchen, exploring the nature and relaxing while watching the birds outside."
